One of the successful additions to the 2013 season in Hvar Town was the first semi-submarine tour on the island, part of Restaurant Gariful’s efforts to diversify tourism on the island. The semi-submarine operates daily from May to October, allowing kids to experience the treasures of the Adriatic in total safety through the glass-bottomed vessel. Departing from in front of the restaurant on the Hvar waterfront to the island Galesnik on the Pakleni Islands and back, the submarine tour is an ideal attraction for children, and with a price of just 80 kuna for the 30-minutes tour, an affordable option for the young ones while parents can enjoy a relaxing coffee on the riva. While the main aim of the submarine tour was as a children’s attraction, the first season saw some unusual other uses of the submarine, including a Russian man who used the tour to propose to his girlfriend, while famous winemaker Andro Tomic gave an interview to British newspaper The Independent underwater. More images of the submarine below, and check out the video report at the bottom for a better view of the submarine tour. See you in front of Gariful!
