Peskafondo 2012: How to Enter the Hvar Squid Challenge

By Ivana Vrselja October 1, 2012 Blog

Peak season in Hvar Town is July and August but someone forgot to tell the tourism chiefs in Hvar Town. As Jadrolinija introduced their winter ferry programme on October 1, the town embarks on an impressive series of tourism events over the next few days, including the celebration of Europe’s oldest theatre, the festival of St. Stephen, and the second traditional sailboat festival.

As if that was not enough, there is a new four-day culinary festival starting on October 3. After a successful trial in 2011, the 2012 Gariful Hvar Peskafondo promises to be a quality addition to the late tourism scene. There will be various gastronomic events, including olive and wine tasting and cooking shows, but the heart of the festival revolves around squid fishing.

There is still time to register. Three members can register per boat, with a registration fee of 150 kuna if the team has its own boat and equipment (250 kuna extra for boat hire if not). Registration can either be done in person at Restaurant Gariful on the waterfront, or by calling Ivan Gospodnetić on 098 9160 173.

To participate as an exhibitor at the event please contact or cell:             095 326 9920 (Marijana Bubrić). To follow the latest events, check out the Peskafondo website.
